California’s State Dignity is No Longer for Sale

Not so very long ago, we reported on Schwarzenegger’s last-ditch plan to sell many of California’s great civic buildings to a “private company” with Texas ties.  The state of California would get a couple billion in quick cash, but would then rent the space it needed for, say, whatever it is they do in City Hall.  To more light-hearted CA residents, the plan was silly; to those more prone to conspiracy theories, it was insidious.

Fortunately, our new Governor seems to favor the former approach.  According to the San Francisco Chronicle, he’s recently trashed the plan, simply saying that it, “didn’t really make much sense”.

Looks like City Hall can continue hosting Gay Pride and LoveFest in pure anonymous public free-speech glory after all.
